Sacramento, CA - Day 3

It's day 3 in CA. I had soymilk cereal for breakfast, and now I'm gassy as ever. Just got to the hotel room at Hallmark Inn. "Roommate" was already here before I got here, so... what am I gonna do about all this gas?!

Program starts at 11:30. More updates to come.

Walked around downtown Davis. First impression? One-story buildings! Very small town-ish. Old fashioned looking plazas/squares.

Saw a bit of campus; the arboretum is nice. The creek, ducks, benches, and whatnot are definitely a nice change up from Rice; very dog-park ish. You know.. like in 101 Dalmations when Roger takes Pongo out at the very beginning?

Everyone was shuttled to the Genome and Biomedical Sciences Facility (GBSF) where boxed lunches and one talk after the other was presented by faculty on their current research. A handful of lab tours ensued, and soon enough we were whisked off to dinner at the Symposium, which contrary to my initial impressions was not some grand atrium filled w/poster presentations (blame it on the Rice Undergraduate Research Symposium and my lack of verbal expertise). It was indeed what most individuals would arrive at.. a Greek restaurant (with tasty pizza).
